Case
The question that came from the Spijkerkwartier was: How can we make the residents of the Spijkerkwartier more aware of their energy consumption? The research showed that the needs of the residents encompassed more than just insight into energy consumption.
Solution
As a result of the research, a concept has been devised that can give residents more insight into many different issues that play a role in the neighbourhood. You can think of; Flooding, noise pollution, work, new building plans, gas and energy consumption (by residents who want to share), petrification and greening.
Operation
The concept has been incorporated into an experience. An interactive model is used in combination with three beamer screens all around. Various information is shown on the model of the neighborhood by means of a beamer. In addition, the model is interactive where you can click on various elements and hotspots to get a better picture. When a hotspot is indicated with the finger, the environment on the beamers changes to that point in the neighborhood. You will then see a virtual version of the neighbourhood, but above all you will experience what the changes bring about. The research shows that residents find it difficult to imagine how certain aspects (such as petrification) can have an impact on the neighbourhood. By simulating this in a space that is available to all residents, the imagination can be cultivated.
