In physiotherapy, virtual reality (VR) is already successfully used to combat chronic pain and general complaints of the neck and back. A group in which this is seen even less is rehabilitation care for people who have to recover after CVA or NAH. To respond to this, InMotion VR, in collaboration with Hankamp Rehab, wants to fill the gap by developing a serious game that supports these patients in their recovery. Hankamp Rehab is a medical technology company from Enschede that is developing a new mechanical arm support.
The starting point is that the frequency of exercising the affected arm must be increased. Supporting the exercise with the arm makes it easier to keep it up for longer (less tiring). But to keep it interesting, we will use VR to make the environment varied with exercises that are tailor-made to the patient. i.e. the patient will receive exercises that are dynamically adjusted to the range within the patient's ability.
